Are Landline Phones Actually Making a Comeback?

Spread the love

Technology drives us forward, but not everyone is pleased to hear about it, or participate in all the craziness that our technology-driven world entails. Looking forward, not everyone is happy to see that the world is mostly going in a digital direction, where everything is connected and at almost every point, your location is known to someone.

Starting with the global pandemic that shook the world in 2020, people have discovered that technology might actually not be as helpful as we thought it to be. Too much dependency on the internet, social media and constant notifications leave people way too nervous when they have to sit in silence and with their own thoughts.

Some have taken extreme steps and disconnected from the internet entirely, while others made more nuanced approaches.

The result of this was rather unexpected, but logical in hindsight. Are we going to be seeing more landline phones in the coming years? The current stats say, maybe. Here is more on the topic.

Why Landline Phones?

Landline phones are interesting in the sense that they are fixed to a certain location. Landline phones are always there if someone needs to reach you and you are at home. If you are outside and are otherwise engaged, then you can be reached on your mobile phone, if you are carrying one.

Some people simply decided that it was time to leave their phones at home, or simply have them off. We have become too used to instantly communicating with one another, but that comes at the price of expecting answers immediately and for some, getting angry if someone doesn’t answer in the following ten minutes or even less.

When you are home, you can be reached by phone call. The simplicity helps eliminate many distractions, which leads to the next point.

Fewer Distractions

Social media and the internet are a good way to be distracted for hours and not just by using the internet and social media, but also by leaving yourself with less focus. The more you spend time with fast-changing content, the more you diminish your own ability to concentrate.

Eliminating some of those distractions can be done by using other means, but there is still that need to communicate. A landline phone fixes that for most people. Whenever you need to talk to someone, you can give them a phone call and set up a meeting. Changing your way of communication to a landline phone is more than likely to help you get rid of a lot of distractions.

Landline phones are making a comeback, simply because they are useful and can help us focus in a time when we are bombarded by information and the “need” to stay connected all the time. Try one and see if it helps you.
