We all like technology so it comes as no surprise that in the 21st century, the world has changed even faster than it did in the 20th. One of the most important inventions, if not the most important invention of the 20th century, is the transistor. These things are everywhere, powering our phones, computers and all the technology that we use.

However, 21st century has had its own fair share of important and life changing inventions. Here they are, the most important inventions of the 21st century, so far.

3D Printing

This is a true game changer. It changed everything from how we manufacture things to how much weight can be saved when traveling into space. If you are missing a part or a piece, you can print it yourself. You want to make toys, you can do it yourself. 3D printing has gone really far, from printing plastic toys, objects, parts for the International Space Station to even printing human organs. Yes, we can make artificial organs and 3D printing has yet to show us everything that it can do.

Metal Exoskeletons

We make progress in almost every way. Metal exoskeletons are basically enhancements and wearable body parts that make us stronger or functional, in case of physical impairments. An example of such exoskeletons are in use at the Ford Motor Company, to help their workers. Wearing them, they have less wear on the shoulders and arms during a long workday. There will be more breakthroughs in this area.

Augmented Reality

We are not yet at Tony Stark levels of AR, but we are getting there. Augmented reality means digitally placed information over live footage or our actual experience, which should enhance our experience of viewing or experiencing anything. There are open source libraries which make AR implementation easy for any broadcast nowadays. The future of AR is going to be much more feature-packed, but it takes time to get there.

Blockchain Technology

While still barely understood by most people, blockchain technology represents a decentralized way to store and record and facilitate peer to peer financial transactions. Being decentralized, it is also extremely encrypted, meaning that all the transactions are safe and anonymous. While first used to purchase things on the internet after Bitcoin was introduced in 2008, nowadays, it has many implications and is used by multiple industries.  

Reusable Rockets

At the forefront of space exploration lies one man, who people know as the eccentric who creates electric cars, Elon Musk. His company, SpaceX, is devoted to space exploration and the first use of reusable rockets was performed in 2017. The future of space exploration seems bright.
