Im an old Central Office installer, worked for Stromberg-Carlson from 1958 to 1977. My father worked for them from 1947 untill he passed in 1966. He was known as "Shorty'. My last job was with Nortel Networks. Retired in 2001 and have missed it every day since. Looking for old buddies that worked with me over the years... Wildman

I have a card from years ago with name of Ronald Christianson. I saved it inside my oak wood wall mount Kellogg. I bought in the 1960s in Denver as a student at a second hand shop. 45 years later, it still needs a hand crank, receiver cap, and a mouthpiece. Ronald said parts were available but I never got around to it. Now that I'm about to retire, fixing up the old wall phone will be at the top of the to-do list.

My intent now is to get a working three coin wall mount payphone from the 1950s-1960s. Might you have one for sale? Or know where I might get one. Thanks.

Ned

I was a local and long distance Switchboard operator in Pendleton, Portland, and Salem, Or.in the 1940's and 50's. Could never bring myself to get rid of my old home phones, so now have a small collection. Just purchased an old Hotel phone shaped like a big brass elephant standing on a big brass ball. I've spent hours looking on antique telephone websites looking for another one like it with no luck. I wonder if anyone has one like it?

I have always been interested in telephones, since I was a kid. In the
1960's thru early 1980's the sounds they made to process your call was intertaining. Telephones in the present
2010 are kind of bland no character like the 60's thru the 80's.
Keep up the good work.
Phil

wow, i'm connected, great site, on a whim, i went to check out my treasured antique phone collection, and I id with all the comments. no matter where, i bet when an installer, repairman rang the bell, "telco", no? we were family, i bet it's the same today. I remember at plant school, kenny, our instructor called the bell, "the ringer", it was like, for real, i was here when my mom had the phone installed in 1956, picture included, helping the installer run the line, and it was always the bell with alexander g. not far behind

Love your website! Back in the early 1970's I bought some old phones from a phone company in WI. I have a desk phone(no dial), a candlestick phone with dial and one I call a Barbara Stanwyck phone, it looks like something out of her old 1940's movie, it's an oval with a dial.
